Do you stick you chewing gum under your desk!

Yuck! You do not, do you? Well more us do than you may think. The office desk is an extremely popular place for chewing gum storage.
At offic1web we sell lots of desks, small desks, large desks, home desks and executive desks. They are, apparently, all equally susceptible to a chewing gum attack at some stage throughout their existence.
Rumour has it that President Obama found some of Geroge Bush’s stale chewing gum underneath his office desk in the Oval Office. What was he doing under the desk you may ask? We can’t answer that one.
We were discussing this very fact in office1web today when we began to wonder if our new Taoiseach found any stale gum underneath his new office desk. Surely Brian Cowan must have slipped the odd piece of gum under the desk during one of his fractious meetings with the IMF. Perhaps he stuck a bit of Hubba Bubba under his desk? We bet he did!
We have now set about investigating as to whether or not the underside of Taoiseach Kenny’s office desk is clean!
Well as with everything, there is a study! Apparently 47% of office desking have chewing gum stuck to the underside! At least you know where to go if you’re stuck for a bite to eat or have to freshen up that stinky breath!
Let us know if you stick your used gum underneath your office desk. At office1web we love office desks and we hope you do too! If you have a dirty office desk why not buy a new one right here!

Which office chair is right for you?

seating is another vital element of the right office furniture, not only because most office workers spend so much time seated but also because poor seating can cause serious back problems and repetitive strain injuries. When it comes to office chairs, take the time to consider which of the many styles are right for you so that you find the most suitable - and comfortable - option.

Let’s take a look at the different types of office seating available. First there’s the standard Typist Chair which has no arms and a small back rest. These are great when you’re on a budget as they’re some of the cheapest chairs around and they’re also good for mobility as there are no arms to bash into things. The so-called Operator Chair is very similar but has a longer chair back and therefore a little more support for the back and there’s also the option of having arms for those people who like somewhere to lean their elbows.

Stepping up a rung of the ladder, there are Executive Chairs or Managers Chairs. As you may expect, these tend to be a bit more expensive and a bit more impressive! These often come with full backs which offer more support so are not just for managers! You’ll find leather chairs and padded options for these higher spec Executive Chairs too.

If you’ve already suffered a back injury or perhaps just want to improve your posture, then there is office seating especially designed to protect your spine and your posture. And don’t forget the importance of quality chairs for your meeting rooms, reception areas, clients and guests. Take a browse through our entire range of office chairs and make sure the one you choose ticks all the right boxes!

Sunspel’s truly 21st century craftsmanship

When a new or existing customer pays a visit to one of Sunspel’s (http://www.sunspel.com) much-feted stores in Shoreditch or Soho, or for that matter takes in the entire range available online, they are likely to notice a unique combination of recent technology and timeless, durable style. However, whether they are examining one of the company’s classic polo shirts, T-shirts, underwear or an entirely different product, a certain high quality craftsmanship should also not escape their notice.

Such craftsmanship is evident in the little details of a Sunspel product’s technical specification, but will always be most obvious to those who actually wear the brand’s luxury clothing on a daily basis. Sunspel, after all, very much stands for a highly wearable, everyday luxury with its extensive collection of basics. These items, also encompassing the likes of knitwear, sweats, trousers and sleepwear, are assured of their character in large part by British skills and techniques that can be traced back to the earliest days of the present Long Eaton factory.

Sunspel has never allowed its British clothing to be produced in a manner that betrays its roots, with both young and old workers at the Nottingham premises not only respectful of time-honoured methods, but also continually enhancing these with new levels of technical expertise. They are greatly assisted in this by Sunspel’s collaborations with international experts that have become a particular hallmark of its product ranges of the early 21st century. The brand’s own employees therefore espouse the finest in creativity and innovation as they strive to preserve the special quality and uniqueness of each new garment.

Since its 1860 establishment, Sunspel has unwaveringly asked itself – beginning with company founder Thomas A Hill – how it can make comfortable, durable and simple clothing in a revolutionary way. Although its raw materials may be sourced from around the world, its innovation with fabric structure to produce constantly relevant heritage clothing remains firmly British. An attention to detail marks Sunspel clothing of all types, with fabrics being relentlessly refined and perfected in addition to the most intricate aspects of design and fit.

Wearers of Sunspel’s quality clothing have repeatedly spoken of forgetting that they are even wearing it, such is its everyday comfort. One truly noticeable benefit, however, is a boost in confidence that only comes from the knowledge of wearing clothing that is supportive and well-presented and that allows a person to express themselves. It leads Sunspel (http://www.sunspel.com) to continually expand its legion of admirers, joining the writer, broadcaster and cultural commentator Robert Elms, who in reference to Sunspel clothes, once said: “I like clothes much more than I like fashion. I like clothes for their own sake, divorced of any context or subtext”.

Home Working Essentials

It’s winter out there. And with winter comes snow and with snow usually comes a virtual standstill across Britain’s road, rail and underground networks. From leaves on the line to the wrong type of rain, there always seems to be a problem when we’re commuting to and from work. Even when there’s no planned engineering works, accidents on the motorway or problems with public transport, commuting is hardly fun. Perhaps that’s the reason more and more people these days are working from home. If remote or flexible working is something you’re contemplating, you´ll need a home office and at Rebel Office Supplies (http://www.rebelofficesupplies.co.uk) we can help.

The likelihood is, you probably already have a laptop and a mobile so here’s a list of some of the other essentials no self-respecting home office should be without:
Desk and Chair
If you’re happy to work standing up whilst holding your laptop in one hand and your mobile in the other, you’re probably the sort of person who enjoys commuting and home working might not be for you! If you´re not, you´ll need a desk and a chair. Our office furniture range will supply you with just what you need.
Stationery
The paperless office never really caught on as any casual glance around the modern business will tell you. And it’s the same in the home office. You’re going to need a good supply of pads and paper as well as pens and highlighters, all of which can be found in our office stationery range.
Printer Supplies
You’re probably going to want a printer and whilst we don’t sell the printers themselves we do sell their essentials.  A look at our range of ink and toners will show you all you’ll need.

Files
Once you’ve printed off a few documents you’re going to need to put them somewhere and the longer you work from home the more the paperwork piles up. Luckily, at Rebel Office Supplies we have all the filing solutions you´ll need. Of course if the documents are confidential you may want to destroy them rather than file them and our shredders can help you do just that.
Accessories
There are a myriad of office accessories to choose from and you´ll need to decide what is right for you. If you’re producing presentations, for example, you may be interested in our binding machines. Maybe you´ll just need a stapler (don’t forget the staples!), a hole-punch and a calculator.

Whatever you choose at Rebel Office Supplies (http://www.rebelofficesupplies.co.uk), our range of office supplies has it covered. Home working is on the increase – no wonder when there’s no commuting and there’s no office politics!

Chocolate boxes are among the highlights of our Christmas Shop

Christmas Day may be a time of peace and goodwill, but for many of us, it’s simply a shameless opportunity to tuck into some of those chocolates that we’d never normally have the free time or a good enough excuse for! The Shorters Club (http://www.shortersclub.co.uk) confectionery range certainly reflects this, with plenty of naughty treats to snap up over the next few days before our Christmas ‘last orders’ deadline... including some seriously alluring chocolate boxes.

Chocolate boxes may fool us into thinking that we can help ourselves to just a few modest chocolates, rather than the entire box, but there’s no denying how much families around the UK love them. Nor is that a surprise, given the staggering range of chocolate boxes available from some of the best-known names in sweets. Indeed, you might have many different people to buy for, so why not take advantage of our own renowned wholesale prices for chocolate boxes while also forgoing the stress of coming up with gift ideas?

One of the great things about chocolate boxes is that they give you a wide choice of different modestly-sized, but ‘moreish’ chocolates within one affordable package, meaning that a family’s fans of milk, dark and white chocolate can all be catered for. That’s certainly the case with the legendary Lindt Selection, which you can buy in a pack of 5 445g boxes. Or why not turn to such time-honoured favourites as the caramel swirl, green triangle, coconut éclair and orange chocolate crunch (to name just a few examples) that a box of Quality Street contains? We allow you to save big on 6 339g boxes.

Speaking of familiar favourites, we are well aware here at Shorters Club that many people turn to our tuck shop to save money on the major brands of chocolates that they may have already seen in the local supermarket. In short, they love the chocolates, but not the usual RRP price – and with us, you can choose from any of a staggering range of boxes that are dedicated to just one particular type of chocolate, such as a 75g box of Maltesers Fairtrade or 300g carton of After Eight, the latter available from us in packs of 12.

One of the best-known chocolate manufacturers in the UK is, of course, Cadbury, which is well-represented in our store in the form of fine deals on the likes of Milk Tray, Roses and the Santa Selection Box. But there’s also no reason why you have to buy solely from the most usual brands, with Elizabeth Shaw also offering the likes of Mint Crisp Milk and Dark chocolates, distinguished by their ‘melt in the mouth’ honeycomb crisp.

And that’s before we mention the rest of the confectionery – including chocolate bars, bagged sweets, chew bars and more - that makes Shorters Club (http://www.shortersclub.co.uk) such a hit with shoppers each and every Christmas.

A run-through of the Cooper, Menvier and JSB fire safety ranges

When you are looking to boost the safety of the occupants of your organisation’s buildings, you’ll want to invest in products in which you can place the utmost confidence. To that end, you are likely to want to buy from only the most trustworthy brands, and if there is any firm represented in the UK-FP.co.uk (http://www.uk-fp.co.uk/index.asp) range of fire products that can boast plenty of those, it is Cooper Lighting and Safety.

Renowned for manufacturing a broad selection of solutions for commercial and industrial purposes, the Doncaster-based Cooper Lighting and Safety can be divided into some of the leading brands in the fire safety industry, including Cooper, JSB and Menvier. Their products on the UK-FP.co.uk website include:

Wireless radio

With a range spanning from the CW9000 Addressable Wireless Fire Control Panel C/W Batteries to the CWBS980 Wireless Sounder Beacon and CWIF930 Wireless 3 Channel Input/Output Interface Module, there is a Cooper Fire system to match so many specialised requirements. The CW9000 wireless control panel makes use of Cooper wireless protocol to provide a proven and effective fire detection system, with field devices and control panels that are securely and wirelessly connected.

Those that are looking for fully featured, intelligent and addressable fire alarms should also have no reason to complain about the reliable sounders, sensors, beacons and callpoints that help to make this a reality. CW9000 itself incorporates such features as an addressable 250 device system, low profile aesthetics and a range of more than 1km in free air into a solution that also meets the requirements of the European standard EN54-25 “Fire detection and fire alarm systems. Components using radio links”.

Analogue addressable

Our selection of Cooper, Menvier and JSB analogue addressable products includes control panels, repeater panels, detectors and manual call points, sounders and beacons and interfaces. Place your trust in CF1000 analogue fire detection panels that can be bought as 1 and 2-loop configured panels and that are as functional as they are easy to use, or simple but effective interfaces that are ‘plug and play’, with no hard addressing required.

Conventional

We provide conventional panels from the well-regarded FX2200CF range that are ideal for those in need of a simple, yet effective conventional fire detection solution. You can specify them as 2, 4 and 8-zone panels, with the latter being configured for the provision of a repeater panel output, in addition to two further fire alarms outputs.

Other items in our Cooper, Menvier and JSB conventional range include detectors and manual call points, sounders and beacons and relays, power supplies and magnetic door holders, all perfect complements to your existing smoke alarms and other fire safety measures.
