No matter what size or how well known your business is, it needs to be protected from fire. Fire can be, as we all know, devastating. But it’s not just the potential loss of valuable stock, tools and equipment, administrative records, property and assets and of course the threat to human lives that’s a problem, it’s also a legal requirement and not adhering to regulation is itself a risk with fines increasingly levied on companies who don’t abide by the latest fire regulations.

It can be large, successful companies that fall foul of the law as well as the smaller players. Indeed this month a very well-known national hotel chain pleaded guilty to a string of fire regulation breaches after fire crews were called to tackle a blaze that had started in one of their hotels. In fact the attending safety officers were so concerned about the lack of proper protection they ordered the hotel to be shut until it was fully resolved and adequate fire alarm systems and protection were put in place. In addition to receiving a court fine and losing trading hours whilst the problem was resolved, the hotel chain’s reputation for safety suffered immeasurably too.

The company pleaded guilty to:

·         An inadequate fire alarm system

·         Failure to review their fire risk assessment
·         Inadequate fire safety training for staff

·         No planning, organisation, control and monitoring of fire prevention and protection             measures

·         Failure to properly maintain fire safety equipment

·         Obstruction of escape routes

·         Blocked fire exits

This case was entirely preventable given that these are all things that Triple Star Fire can ensure companies are covered for. So protect your business from fire, avoid damage, loss and heavy fines and visit our website at http://www.triplestarfire.com/ for our range of cost effective fire protection solutions.
